Cruising solo is easier than ever

Guest post by Rose Gray

Once upon a time, it cost a small fortune if you wanted to cruise solo—this is not the case anymore.

Norwegian Cruise Line now offers award-winning Studio Staterooms where no single supplement applies. In the past, you would have paid the double occupancy cost of a stateroom to travel alone, but not anymore.

Decorated in vibrant colors, the hip Studio Staterooms, on select ships, are sleek and modern. Averaging 100-square-feet in size, they’re surprisingly spacious while offering all the necessities—a full-size bed, separate sink and shower areas, as well as a flat-screen TV and safe. Cool features also include chic, white-tufted accent walls and a large one-way porthole window to the corridor.

Along with stylish staterooms, sailing solo with Norwegian gives you private key card access to the Studio Lounge, which is exclusive to Studio guests. Here you can enjoy complimentary refreshments throughout the day, relax with a book, watch the big-screen TV or simply hang out while having a drink with your fellow Studio cruisers. You can also order room service from the Studio Lounge!

If you’d like to mingle with other single travelers, Norwegian offers meet-ups for solo cruisers. Some ships even host a pub crawl and there’s always a Friends of Dorothy happy hour. You can sip an umbrella drink as you lounge poolside, chill out at the Ice Bar or take a margarita tasting class. There will be plenty of time to pamper yourself at the spa, followed by enjoying Broadway-style entertainment in the evening. Shore excursions will offer another fun way to meet up with fellow cruisers, as will participating in onboard activities such as the ropes course and climbing walls.

And it doesn’t matter if you’re traveling solo by choice, happen to be the extra person in your group, or just because it’s a better option for you, Norwegian makes single cruising so easy and enjoyable. In fact, Norwegian has been voted Best Cruise Line for Solo Travelers by readers of Porthole Cruise Magazine for the fifth year in a row!
