Puget Sound in Washington is a branch of the ocean, an inlet between Seattle and the rest of Washington, and it winds along Washington’s key cities and attractions. Most notable is the metropolitan Seattle, full of culturally rich museums, theatres, shopping, and dining. Tacoma, Everett, Bellevue, Olympia, the Kitsap Peninsula and Bainbridge Island are also along Puget Sound’s shores. Mount Rainier National Park, Seattle Unit National Historical Park and Crystal Mountain are all nearby. On the water of the Sound, enjoy a variety of watersports activities such as sea kayaking at the San Juan Islands to see orca whales or bird-watching, as there are over 300 species of birds that flock here.
