March 8 marks International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Fox World Travel is honored to be announced as the recipient of the Company Achievement Award for Creating a Company Culture for Women to Advance and Succeed at the annual WINiT Gala. WINiT By GBTA is a global network of over 3,000 women and men focused on driving positive change for the career mobility of women in travel-related industries.
“Never has the mission of WINiT by GBTA been more important than now, when women have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic especially hard,” said Dorothy Dowling, chair of the WINiT Strategic Advisory Board and senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Best Western Hotels & Resorts.
Fox’s 2020 strategic planning and COVID-19 return to travel teams were both made of up over 63% women. Two of our strategic projects in the past year for unused tickets and implementation were also entirely women-led and earned Fox two 2020 Magellan Gold Awards from Travel Weekly, as well as providing unmatched business impact in a time of need. These projects alone saved Fox clients millions of dollars in the wake of the pandemic.
“We are truly grateful to be recognized by WINiT for our culture here at Fox,” said Fox CEO Chip Juedes. “Hiring the best leader based on qualifications and experience is business table stakes. We have been honored to work alongside some of the most talented female leaders in the industry during our over 60 years in business.”
From the beginning, Fox has supported the advancement of women across the board, from entry level positions with on-the-job training up to our executive team, which is currently 50% women-led. We’re proud to report that, during 2020, women made up 87.5% of new hires and 50% of promotions at Fox. Additionally, while the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that average tenure in the leisure and hospitality industry is 2.3 years, the average tenure of female leaders at Fox in 2020 is greater than 10 years.
Fox’s family-first culture lays a groundwork of faith and trust that show women their growth is being invested in.
“With the majority of our leaders being female at 63%, most of whom have been grown from within Fox, we feel our stance and culture speaks volumes as a leader in gender equality,” said Fox Chief Culture Officer Audra Mead.
For over a century, International Women’s Day has been supported by millions worldwide calling for action surrounding women’s equality and empowerment. Reflecting on the past year, we have seen many challenges across the globe and especially in the travel industry. Fox is proud to continue to live up to our mission of challenging the status quo and to celebrate International Women’s Day’s 2020 #ChooseToChallenge theme by soaring together, regardless of gender, to make the world a better place.
