Canadian Fall Passage to the West by Rail

Experience the beauty of fall on this land and rail trip aboard the exceptional Rocky Mountaineer.  Travel through the legendary Spiral Tunnels and pass by Craigellachie, the spot where the last spike on the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. This is the only passenger rail service on this historic route, celebrated for connecting Canada from East to West.

Traverse the Continental Divide and be inspired by spectacular mountains and dramatic canyons. If you’re a history buff, this route is for you. Spend seven nights in four-star hotels and 2 days on the train.  We begin in Calgary with a two night stay before traveling to Banff.  As we work our way west, there will be an overnight in Kamloops and then two nights in Vancouver!



Depart Milwaukee for Calgary. Upon arrival you’ll be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy your free time in Calgary.

After breakfast we embark on our Calgary half day sightseeing tour. Included is a visit to the Heritage Park Historial Village. This is Canada's largest living history museum and is one of the city's most visited tourist attractions. Exhibits span Western Canadian history from the 1860s to the 1950s. You will see Western Canada's iconic past not only preserved, but also presented alive and in great working condition. Many of the buildings are historical and were transported to the park to be placed on display. Lunch is included at the Village. This afternoon you can visit the Calgary Tower on you free time.

Enjoy a full-day tour starting with a sightseeing tour from Calgary to Banff. Highlights include admission to the Banff Gondola and a panoramic Helicopter Tour.

Start your day with hotel pickup in Banff, and enjoy a full-day of sightseeing on you Mountain Lakes and Waterfalls tour. Traveling along the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon, where you will enjoy an easy walk before touring to the Lake Louise area. Stops include the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Victoria Glacier, Moraine Lake and the Valley of The Ten Peaks, Yoho National Park, Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls. Arrive back into Banff in the late afternoon.

Today you travel by train. Your Rocky Mountaineer journey continues westwards through the mighty Canadian Rockies! You’ll see a spectacular array of scenery as you travel across ranchlands, along rocky lakeshores, over high mountain passes and through the remarkable tunnels that form part of the rich rail history of the Canadian Rockies. Today’s highlights include the Continental Divide, the Spiral Tunnels, the Kicking Horse Canyon, Rogers Pass and Craigellachie – where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven. Overnight in Kamloops.

Your train journey continues towards the Pacific Ocean and the coastal city of Vancouver by rail. On today’s trip you will again see dramatic changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the Interior, through winding river canyons and pristine forests, to the Coast and Cascade Mountains and the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley. Highlights include the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River and the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. Your rail journey ends on arrival in Vancouver this evening. Breakfast and lunch will be served onboard.

Today, enjoy a six-hour sightseeing tour of Vancouver’s spectacular North Shore. Travel across the Lions Gate Bridge and into the Coast Mountains. Experience the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Treetops Adventure, discovering the coastal temperate rainforest and British Columbia’s First Nations heritage. Next, visit Grouse Mountain (gondola admission included), the Peak of Vancouver, and take in breathtaking views of the city, ocean, and surrounding mountains.

After breakfast depart for your flight home.
