Embrace the warm welcome of the Emerald Isle – its ancient heritage, legends and lore are yours to explore as you travel the length and breadth of this fascinating island and its tale of two nations. You’ll see the beauty and majesty of the northern and southern Ireland.

Visit medieval castles and ancient sites filled with folklore and history. Take in the views of Ireland’s rugged coastline, including the famous Ring of Kerry, the Giant’s Causeway, beautiful Kylemore Abbey, the Cliffs of Moher and end with a fun medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle.  Visit the incredible cities of Dublin, Belfast, Killarney and so much more. Don’t forget to enjoy a pint of Guinness and some live music along the way!

 

 

Your adventure begins aboard a motorcoach transfer from select cities to Chicago O’Hare airport, where you will board your overnight flight to Dublin.

After landing at the Dublin Airport, your driver/guide will welcome you to Ireland and transfer you to your hotel. This afternoon, travel to Malahide and visit the magnificent Castle. Dinner this evening is at your hotel.

This morning, discover the delights of central Dublin with public buildings, elegant Georgian townhouses and squares, as well as modern sculptures and busy shopping hubs. Visit Trinity College, home of the 8th century Book of Kells and see St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Stop for a visit at the Old Jameson Distillery, where you can learn about distillation processes for this “water of life.” Displays explain how barley and water are combined, distilled, aged and bottled and at the end of the tour you can enjoy a sample. Spend the afternoon shopping or sightseeing independently and in the evening you may like to sample some of Dublin’s traditional pubs.

Travel to Belfast this morning and meet a local guide for a living history tour which takes you through the landmarks that have played their part in the city’s colorful development. During the course of the tour, you will see many well-known features of the city including City Hall, Queens University, Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens and Albert Clock. Visit the impressive Titanic Museum which extends over nine galleries, with multiple dimensions to the exhibition, drawing together special effects, dark rides, full-scale reconstructions and interactive features to explore the Titanic story in a fresh and insightful way. Tonight we enjoy a fish and chip supper in a traditional pub.

Travel to the Antrim Coast this morning where you’ll be constantly delighted as you travel around each bend in the road and pretty fishing villages or dramatic headlands come into view. Your journey continues to the Giants’ Causeway, where for centuries, visitors have marveled at its majesty and mystery. Next experience the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Traditionally fishermen erected the bridge to Carrick-a-Rede island over a 23m-deep and 20m-wide chasm to check their salmon nets.

This morning travel to Derry and meet a local guide for a tour of the city. See St. Columb’s Cathedral, a Gothic Cathedral, which was constructed early in the 17th Century, it has a fine spire and a total of 13 bells. Continuing on foot, you will walk along the city walls with a guided commentary as you go. The afternoon is at leisure.

Leave Derry this morning and travel to Sligo where you bid your own farewell to W.B. Yeats, Ireland’s great poet, at quiet Drumcliffe churchyard where his simple tombstone reads: “Cast a cold eye / On life, on death / Horseman, pass by!” Tonight enjoy dinner followed by Trad on the Prom, a spectacular celebration of Irish Music, Song and Dance! The show features the amazing talents of Mairin Fahy, featured soloist with Riverdance and The Chieftains, on fiddle and vocals.

Hotel: Connemara Coast Hotel (or similar)

Today you tour Connemara, a wild land of rocky mountains, sparkling brooks, and rivers. Stop at lakeside Kylemore Abbey, a castellated neo-Gothic mansion, occupied today by the Irish Benedictine community of nuns who came from Ypres after World War I. Continue on to Clifden, one of the prettiest towns in Connemara.

Travel to the Cliffs of Moher, rising approximately 700 feet above the pounding Atlantic waves and stretching to 8km. Visit the interpretive center, housed in an underground building, a huge domed cave contains images, exhibits and displays. Arrive in Killarney, and enjoy the town on the lakes. It is renowned for its lively pubs and open, cheerful atmosphere, full of what the Irish call ‘craic’! Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening.

Today travel the road that winds around the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula, better known as “The Ring of Kerry.” It is undoubtedly one of the most magical places in all Ireland. Here mountains, valleys, lakes and sea blend into a landscape that is often breathtaking beyond words.

This morning visit the picturesque village of Adare, which is billed as the prettiest village in Ireland with its thatched roof cottages and Tudor style houses. Visit the Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Walk through the streets of the Folk Park, recreating everyday life as it was in rural Ireland some 100 years ago. It contains houses, a pub, fully operational blacksmith’s forge, a printers shop and a draper’s. This evening step back to medieval times and relive the atmosphere of the sumptuous living. The evening begins with a reception in the Great Hall of the castle, then it’s downstairs to enjoy a four-course meal with red and white wine. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the entertainment.

All too soon, your vacation in Ireland has come to the end. Transfer to the Shannon Airport in plenty of time to check-in for your flight. Upon arrival in Chicago, your motorcoach will transfer you back to your departure city.

Cancellation Penalties:

  • April 27, 2019 to 0 days prior to travel: No refund
