A note from Rose:

In September 2017 I took nineteen adventurous travelers with me on an unbelievable Fox World Travel Group Vacation to South Africa. It was so exceptional that I knew we needed to offer this adventure again in 2018 and give more intrepid travelers a chance to experience the wonder that is South Africa. And so it is with great pleasure that I invite you to join me on a Fox World Travel Group Vacation to South Africa and Zimbabwe, departing the United States on September 9, 2018. This uniquely crafted itinerary will include the beautiful winelands, big game viewing at a private game reserve, the cosmopolitan areas of Cape Town and Johannesburg and Victoria Falls which is one of the seven natural Wonders of the World. If this area of the world has been on your travel wish list, I encourage you to talk to one of our knowledgeable travel consultants and get more details. Space is limited to nineteen guests. I would love you to join me.

Board your flight from Milwaukee via Atlanta to Johannesburg (with our Air-Inclusive package). Or meet us in Johannesburg on your own flights.

On arrival in Johannesburg, you are met by a “VIP” representative, who will assist you with customs formalities, help you collect your luggage and through to the arrivals hall.

As you enter the arrivals hall, you’ll be met by a local representative. Should you need any additional services such as exchanging currency or cell phone rental, our representative will be able to assist. You will be handed your tour documents and assisted to your ongoing flight to Cape Town.

Arrive in the vibrant city of Cape Town, where you are met by an African Travel Inc. representative in the arrivals hall and transferred to your reserved hotel.

With its majestic Table Mountain backdrop, Cape Town is one of the most vibrant and beautiful cities in the world. The city is an eclectic mix of architectural styles, reflecting both the tastes of the past and more modern designs. Edwardian and Victorian buildings have been meticulously preserved, and many outstanding examples of Cape Dutch architecture are found in the city and its environs. Cobblestone streets, mosques and the flat-roofed pastel homes of the Malay Quarter enhance the cosmopolitan ambience, while the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront evokes images of the seafaring activities of the 19th century.

Hotel: Victoria & Alfred Hotel

This morning meet your private guide in the hotel lobby for your full day excursion to the Cape Peninsula. Embark on a spectacular day discovering the pristine coastline and quaint towns along "The Fairest Cape.” You’ll board a boat to see the Cape Fur seal colony in the charming fishing village of Hout Bay, weather permitting. Hug the cliffs as you snake along legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. You will have the opportunity to ride the Flying Dutchman funicular to the old lighthouse for awe-inspiring views! After lunch (on own account), continue along the coast to the lively penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Then, head back to the city via the naval village of Simon’s Town.

Meal: Breakfast

This morning meet your tour director in the lobby and begin a full day private excursion to the Cape Winelands.

You will be transferred to The V&A Waterfront in time to board the ferry to Robben Island, home of Nelson Mandela for so many years. The tour takes approximately 3.5 hours including the ferry trip to and from the Island. Guests should check in at the gateway one hour before the ferry departs. Formerly a political prison and a leper colony, Robben Island is a national monument and a World Heritage Site. Pass the lime quarry and see the conditions of incarceration in the maximum security prison. The tour culminates with a viewing of Nelson Mandela’s maximum security prison cell (Cell 5). This well-preserved historic landmark pays tribute to the triumph of freedom, dignity and determination over humiliation and oppression.

Then on to historical, glorious Stellenbosch with its Cape Dutch architecture. It is the warm and wonderful heart of the Cape Winelands, and is surrounded by stunning wine estates. It’s truly the prettiest town, home to one of the country’s prestigious universities, and you’ll love exploring the fine art galleries, the architecture, the history, and the curious and quaint shops. But first, we take a leisurely drive to acquaint you with the beauty of this world-renowned region, before inducting you into the wine-making process in a fascinating cellar tour. And when the wine’s made, it needs to be tasted, so we’ll twist your arm to test and taste…and no doubt, you’ll leave with a favorite bottle or two under your arm. Stellenbosch is arguably one of the Province’s most beautiful towns – but you be the judge.
