Top 4 Tips for Planning a Large Group Vacation

I’m Terri Norquist, one of the experienced travel advisors from our Fond du Lac office. With over 15 years of industry knowledge and expertise, I have successfully assisted numerous travelers in planning their large group trips. Whether it’s a multi-generational family vacation, a neighborhood spring break getaway, or an annual friend reunion, I’ve handled it all. Drawing from my extensive experience, I’ve curated a list of three essential tips to kickstart your planning process for a memorable large group vacation!
Tip #1: Allow Yourself Ample Time!
There’s nothing worse than rushing through the vacation planning process. To avoid unnecessary stress, I highly recommend initiating the planning process for your large group at least a year in advance of your intended travel dates. By giving yourself enough time, you’ll be able to make well-considered decisions and have a wide range of flight and hotel options at your disposal.
Tip #2: Embrace the Power of Organization!
When it comes to managing a large group, organization is the key to success. Create a comprehensive list of all travelers and gather any relevant information required by your advisor, such as full legal names and dates of birth. To streamline the process even further, break down the list by assigning individuals to specific rooms or cabins.
Tip #3: Determine Where…
Choosing the destination is one of the primary and most crucial decisions you’ll make. To help you narrow down your options, consider asking yourselves the following questions:
- Are we inclined to stay within the United States or venture beyond its borders?
- Do all group members possess valid passports, or will there be sufficient time for them to obtain one?
- Are we interested in an all-inclusive vacation package?
- What is our per-person budget?
Tip #4: and When!
Once you’ve settled on a destination, it’s time to determine the ideal travel dates. While we understand that flexibility may be limited due to holidays and school breaks, being open to slight date adjustments can greatly aid our advisors in securing group accommodations and the best prices available.
By implementing these top three tips, you’ll set yourself up for a smooth and enjoyable large group vacation planning experience. Remember, the more time you allocate, the more organized you are, and the more open-minded you remain, the better the outcome will be!
