Disneyland® Resort
The original theme park, Disneyland® Resort as well as Disney California Adventure® Park are two separate theme parks located in Anaheim, California. They are both part of the Disneyland® Resort, but they offer different experiences.
Disneyland® Resort is the original Disney theme park, and it features many of the classic Disney rides and attractions, such as Space Mountain, It’s a Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Disneyland® Resort is also home to some of the most iconic Disney characters, such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Cinderella.
Disney California Adventure® Park is a newer theme park, and it has a more modern focus. The park features rides and attractions based on popular Disney and Pixar films, such as Cars Land, and Toy Story Midway Mania.
What we love about it:
- California’s theme parks are smaller and more manageable than the Florida theme park.
- It’s also slightly more affordable than the alternative.
- Disneyland® Resort is an excellent option if you are traveling or visiting family on the west coast.
Considerations:
- While Disneyland® Resort is the original theme park, it does have less variety of attractions and entertainment than Walt Disney World®.
Walt Disney World® Resort
Walt Disney World® Resort is the largest Disney resort in the world, and it’s located in Orlando, Florida. It’s made up of four theme parks: Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Walt Disney World® Resort also has waterparks, a shopping district, and a variety of hotels. This magic destination has something for everyone, from thrill rides to family-friendly attractions to educational experiences.
What we love about it:
- Tons of variety with attractions and entertainment for children and adults of all ages.
- If you are planning a Disney vacation, this is the option with the most flexibility in planning.
- Many family-friendly hotel options – from budget-friendly to extravagant.
Considerations:
- A vacation to Walt Disney World® Resort can be a bit more complicated and requires planning – from dining plans, transportation, good neighbor vs Disney grounds resorts, hopper passes, Genie+ and more.

Disney Cruises offer a variety of itineraries, so guests can select the theme based on their preferences. There are a variety of activities for guests of all ages, including character meet-and-greets, live shows, youth clubs and dining experiences.

- Most Disney Cruises to the Bahamas or the Caribbean include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. It’s a beautiful, exclusive paradise with pristine beaches, water sports, and activities.
Considerations:
- Keep in mind, Disney Cruises tend to be more expensive than many other cruise lines.
- Popular character meet-and-greets, shows, and dining venues may have long lines or require reservations well in advance.

From private access to renowned museums, backstage tours, cooking classes, and cultural interactions – these adventures have it all.
What we love about it:
- They keep group sizes relatively small, allowing for a more personalized and intimate travel experience.
- Some tours offer special access to attractions with one-of-a-kind experiences only Disney can offer.
