Your journey begins in Chicago O’Hare, where you will board your overnight flight to Romania.

Welcome to Bucharest, Romania’s vibrant capital, where grand boulevards and Belle-Époque elegance hint at a rich past. On arrival, there is one group transfer to your hotel. Settle into the rhythm of the city before meeting your Travel Director and fellow travelers for a local dinner. Raise a glass to the journey ahead as you share your first taste of Romania’s warm hospitality – the perfect way to begin your adventure.

Step into Bucharest’s history on a walking tour with a visit to the colossal Palace of Parliament, one of the world’s largest and heaviest buildings, built during Romania’s communist era. Passing through Revolution Square, a key site in the country’s fight for freedom, you’ll finally arrive at the Arch of Triumph, the city’s tribute to its WWI victory. The afternoon is yours to explore, shop or simply enjoy the Romanian capital’s energy.

Leave Bucharest behind as you wind through the wooded Carpathian Mountains, arriving in the elegant resort town of Sinaia. Visit Peleș Castle, a neo-Renaissance palace built for Romania’s first king and filled with original furnishings, weaponry and decorative arts. Travel onward to the Saxon village of Hărman, where you’ll step inside a fortified church built to protect the community during medieval times. Continue through the countryside to a traditional Saxon home, carefully restored by your hosts. Here you’ll enjoy a Be My Guest experience, sharing stories over a homemade meal prepared using Transylvanian recipes, with ingredients sourced from the surrounding region (subject to availability).

Bran Castle—better known as the home of Bram Stoker’s Dracula—sets the scene this morning. With its towering spires, hidden passageways and dramatic history, it’s easy to see why this fortress fuels the legend. Dive into Culture as your Local Specialist reveals the real story, from royal retreat to eerie icon. Then, wander the medieval streets of Braşov, uncover its Saxon past and visit the fire-scarred Black Church. Tonight, your evening is yours to enjoy as you wish.

Begin your day in Sighișoara, a UNESCO-listed gem and one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns. Stroll its cobbled lanes and explore the old town on foot, seeing the covered wooden stairs, the landmark clock tower and the house where Vlad the Impaler was supposedly born. Continue to Sibiu, a city rich in Saxon character and charm. Join a Local Specialist to uncover the Great Square, Huet Square, Goldsmiths’ Square and the Liar’s Bridge. See the Gothic Cathedral of St. Mary, known for its ornate interior and the resting place of a Wallachian prince.

This morning, you may choose to join an Optional Experience to Muzeul Astra, one of Europe’s largest open-air museums, showcasing over 300 original buildings that reflect Romania’s rural architecture, crafts and farming heritage. Later, visit Corvin Castle, a spectacular Gothic fortress known for its towers, turrets and tales of Vlad the Impaler. Continue west towards Timișoara, a city celebrated for its grand architecture and cultural heart. Often called ‘Little Vienna’, Timișoara is known for its public squares, Art Nouveau architecture and its key role in the 1989 revolution that shaped modern Romania.

Cross the border from Romania into Hungary and head for Bugac Puszta, part of the Great Hungarian Plain. This is the region where goulash originated, and you’ll stop to enjoy a bowl of the hearty stew before watching a horsemanship display that showcases the riding skills of local herdsmen. Later, continue to Budapest, where wide boulevards and river views mark your arrival in the capital. This evening, explore the city from the water on a dinner cruise along the Danube, passing landmarks lit up in gold.

Start your final day uncovering the grandeur of Budapest with your Local Specialist. Stand in the vast Heroes’ Square, surrounded by statues of Hungary’s great leaders, before crossing the Danube to Buda. Ascend Castle Hill, to see the striking Matthias Church. Nearby, take in views over the city from the Fisherman’s Bastion, with its fairytale turrets overlooking the Hungarian Parliament. Important Information

Requirements: A valid US passport with a minimum validity of 6 months from date of return.

Not Included: ETIAS Visa (when implemented), Airline flights on land-only packages, air-imposed baggage fees, gratuities for airport porters, tour guides, motorcoach drivers, meals (other than those included in the package), optional excursions, travel insurance and any items of a personal nature.

Terms: Minimum of travelers are required for the tour to operate and send a Fox World Travel tour manager to accompany the group. In the event the minimum number is not reached, the tour will operate with a professional, local guide in the destination. Hotels and daily itinerary are subject to change.

Group Air: A minimum of 10 passengers is needed for the group air. Flights are currently pending. The air-inclusive package includes air that has not yet been assigned, the identity of the carrier, which may include the carrier`s code-share partner, will be assigned and disclosed at a later date. Price includes approximate air taxes and fees. Air package pricing is subject to change until contracted due to the volatility of airfare costs. Checked luggage fees may apply. Frequent Flier miles may not be available to group air travel. Fox World Travel has no control over flight or equipment changes, seat assignments, delays, or cancellations. Airline tickets will be non-refundable once issued. Changes will be subject to a fee plus any fare difference. Additional restrictions may apply. Pricing and flight options from other cities available upon request.

Insurance: For peace of mind, we recommend purchasing travel protection insurance. Your travel advisor can discuss options with you, including medical expense coverage, pre-existing medical condition exclusion waivers, trip cancellation, trip delay, lost, delayed, or damaged baggage and more. To cover pre-existing conditions, most policies must be purchased within 14 days of making your initial deposit. Travel protection insurance prices are based on your age and the trip cost.

Cancellation Penalties:

February 3 to February 23, 2027: 50% package price cancellation fee + Fox Fee + applicable airline fees

February 24 to March 25, 2027: 75% package price cancellation fee + Fox Fee + applicable airline fees

March 26, 2027, till date of departure: No refunds

Fox World Cancellation Fee of $100.00 per reservation will apply in addition to any Fox Group Vacation or vendor cancellation penalties. Air tickets are non-refundable once ticketed.

Activity Level 2 – Moderate

Designed for travelers who prefer a balanced blend of sightseeing and downtime. Expect days that include up to two–three miles of walking on a mix of paved paths, small hills, cobblestone streets, and occasional uneven ground. There may be one to two days on this tour when walking tours can cover three to four miles over uneven terrain. Travelers should be comfortable standing for up to two hours during guided activities and climbing two flights of stairs, sometimes without handrails. Daily touring may include early departures or longer coach rides.

Mobility Guidance: You are welcome to travel with mobility aids; however, there will be portions of touring that may be more difficult to accommodate, and you may need to navigate short stretches without assistance. Please share your needs with us in advance so we can plan appropriately.

RESPONSIBILITY: We and any sponsoring organizations act only as agent for the suppliers of travel services such as airlines, hotels, car rental companies, tour operators, restaurants, sightseeing companies, entertainment providers, and cruise lines (the “Suppliers”). We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Suppliers that cause losses or damages arising from physical or emotional injury, property or other economic damage, consequential damages, or monetary losses, or arising from any other causes beyond our control. We reserve the right to make any changes in the itinerary deemed necessary, and also the right to decline or retain any person as a member of the Trip. If you choose to arrange your own transportation for any portion of the Trip, we are not responsible for any arrangements or associated costs should there be a change in date that requires changes or cancellation to transportation arranged by you. We are not responsible should there be any changes with vacation hosts, tour managers, or entertainment. You grant to FWT and its designated agents the right to acquire and use the audio, photographic, video and other portrayals of your image, likeness, and voice in any medium of any nature whatsoever, including the Internet, for the purpose of trade, advertising, sales, publicity or otherwise, without compensation.

We will make reasonable attempts to accommodate the special needs of disabled travelers, but we are not responsible in the event we are unable to do so nor are we responsible for any denial of services by Suppliers. The American with Disabilities Act is only applicable within the United States and facilities for disabled individuals are limited outside its borders. Most transportation services, including a touring motor coach, are not equipped with wheelchair ramps. We regret we cannot provide individual assistance to a vacation participant for walking, dining, getting on and off motor coaches and other vehicles, or other personal needs. A qualified and physically able companion must accompany travelers who need such assistance and must assume full responsibility for their well-being. Motorized scooters are unsuitable for most vacations.

We have no special knowledge regarding the financial condition of the Suppliers, unsafe conditions, health hazards, weather hazards, or climate extremes at locations to which you may travel. You assume full and complete responsibility for checking and verifying any and all passport, visa, vaccination, or other entry requirements of your destination(s), and all conditions regarding health, safety, security, political stability, and labor or civil unrest at such destination(s). You hereby release us from all claims arising out of any problem covered in this paragraph. You agree that the courts in Winnebago County, Wisconsin will be the exclusive jurisdiction for all claims brought by you or us, and you hereby submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

We work vigilantly with the Suppliers to maintain integrity of the price you were originally quoted and placed on deposit. There may be certain circumstances where your vacation may be subject to a price increase prior to full payment due to a supplier or government issued surcharge. Prices will not increase after you make full payment, except for charges resulting from increases in government-imposed taxes or fees, fuel surcharges, exchange fluctuations or any combinations of these. Fox World Travel will make a reasonable attempt to contact you prior to issuing charges.
