
TMCs Wrestle with New NDC Reality
American Airlines on April 3 began pulling up to 40 percent of its content from EDIFACT and making it available only through New Distribution Capability channels and its direct website. More than a month into this change, the industry is learning the fares that composed that 40 percent and is tracking the variable price differentials between EDIFACT content and NDC content. But availability and pricing aren’t the only challenges. Agency servicing for NDC bookings is a major pain point.
