Fox World Travel raises awareness about signs of human trafficking ahead of major travel event and a busy travel season

As a recognized advocate for anti-trafficking through Protect All Children from Trafficking (PACT), we are taking proactive steps to raise awareness about human trafficking ahead of the 2025 football draft, anticipated to be one of Northeast Wisconsin’s largest-ever events.

On Friday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m., we hosted a press event at our Oshkosh headquarters located at 2150 S. Washburn St. (map), to shed light on human trafficking and provide education on how people can identify and prevent trafficking. We will also light up our headquarters in blue in recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness Day, recognized nationally on January 11, and to signify its commitment to this crucial cause.

“Education is the most powerful tool we have to stop human trafficking,” explained Kelly Chartre, vice president of marketing and lead for community engagement and philanthropy at here at Fox World Travel. “As travel professionals, we are extremely passionate about this cause. Our PACT committee created a Prevent Trafficking Toolkit with education and accessible resources to help individuals identify and stop trafficking.”

Wisconsin’s Human Trafficking Challenge

According to Shared Hope International Institute for Justice & Advocacy’s 2023 Wisconsin Report Card on Child & Youth Sex Trafficking, Wisconsin received an “F” grade for its laws combatting trafficking. With this data, we are driven to raise awareness and provide tools for prevention especially ahead of high-risk periods such as major events like the 2025  Draft which is expected to bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to the region.

“Human trafficking incidents tend to spike during high-profile events that draw major crowds to a region,” explained Kelly Leith, vice president of human resources and PACT committee lead here at Fox World Travel. “Fox understands it takes a collaborative effort to put a stop to human trafficking. We are committed to doing our part by educating our community to ensure safety and awareness.”

About the Prevent Trafficking Toolkit

We developed a Prevent Trafficking Toolkit in collaboration with PACT and our Corporate Customer Advisory Board. While built for travel managers and their teams, the toolkit offers practical resources to all travelers and citizens to raise awareness and provide guidance on the topic.

Key features include:

  • Links to educational resources from PACT and the Department of Homeland Security
  • A downloadable and printable informational pocket card for travelers developed by Fox World Travel
  • Social media graphics for organizations to raise awareness about modern slavery

We are dedicated to promoting responsible travel practices and making a positive impact on the world. The Prevent Trafficking Toolkit is just one step forward in this ongoing commitment.

Fox World Travel’s PACT Involvement

We are also a member of The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism (The Code), a global initiative helping organizations combat human trafficking. The Code equips participants with tools and strategies to better protect vulnerable populations in the travel and tourism sectors.

“The upcoming draft serves as an opportunity to spotlight this critical issue, but these discussions must continue long after both Human Trafficking Awareness Month and the draft are over,” said Leith.
