Delta Air Lines Sends US Veterans to Normandy in Honor of 80th Anniversary of D-Day

Delta Air Lines recently flew a group of US Veterans to Normandy France to honor and celebrate the heroics of the U.S. military who lead the D-Day invasion 80 years ago this month. In addition to the U.S. veterans and their family members, the trip also included a number of High School and College students. Everyone at Fox World Travel thanks these veterans for their service and sacrifice to our country and we also salute all current active duty military members for their service to our country.

 

Summer 2024 Will See Record Number of Travelers

Airlines are predicting that there will be over 271M passengers traveling between June 1st and August 31st (up from 255M) in 2023. Daily flights will increase to 26,000 (up 5.6% from 2023). Expect your flight to be full and consider the following tips to help you on your journey:

– Download your airline’s app (flight updates, baggage tracking)

– Reserve parking at your departure airport well in advance of your trip

– Consider enrolling in Global Entry or TSA Precheck

– Know your rights (the DOT has enhanced their rules allowing for more passenger rights)

– Stay hydrated while flying (this means water)

– Its ok to check your bags (improves passenger journey through check-in, boarding, and deplaning process)

– If a passenger conflict evolves during a flight, notify your flight attendant first.

 

Global Airline Profitability Looks Strong for 2024

In another sign of the financial rebound of most global carriers post-COVID, IATA reports global airlines will have a very strong year in 2024. Some key projections:

– Net profits to reach $30.5B (3.1% profit margin)

– Total revenue to reach $996B (+9.7% from 2023)

– Total expense to reach $936B (+9.4% from 2024)

– Total travelers to reach a new global record of 4.96B

 

United Airlines Makes It Easier for Customers Traveling with Wheelchairs

UA has launched a new digital sizing tool that will help customers find the right aircraft for their wheelchair. This is an industry first initiative and was developed in collaboration with accessibility advocates. UA also announced they will refund the fare difference if a passenger has to pay more for an alternative flight with a larger cargo door. Boeing Updates FAA On New Safety Standards

Boeing has presented their roadmap of new and updated safety standards to the FAA. This does not mark the end of oversight by both Boeing and the FAA but sets a new and much needed standard of how Boeing does business. The plan will include more safety inspectors in Boeing facilities as well as decreasing overly aggressive production expansion plans.
