In today’s rapidly evolving world, technological advancements, particularly in Artificial Intelligence (AI), are frequently making headlines. This is especially true in the realm of Talent Acquisition, where every applicant tracking system (ATS) offers AI-driven efficiencies designed to simplify recruiters’ tasks and improve the candidate experience. With so many options available, it can be daunting to decide whether to experiment with AI or fully embrace automation. 

At Fox, our Talent Acquisition team acknowledges the numerous benefits AI offers. By automating repetitive tasks, AI allows our team to spend more time engaging with candidates and finding ways to continually improve their experience. It also provides valuable data to identify key metrics, enabling informed decisions and refining our hiring process. In fact, in 2024 the Fox technology team launched our Colby AITM as an integrated resource to streamline efficiencies across the company. 

However, integrating AI into Talent Acquisition comes with challenges, the most significant being the potential loss of human connection. Building relationships is crucial in talent acquisition and requires human interaction. We strive to balance the efficiencies AI provides while maintaining personal connections. In our recruitment and hiring processes, that’s what sets us apart. From our experience, candidates desire a few key things from the hiring process: a streamlined process, respect that comes from being treated as a human vs. a number, transparency, quick responses and decision-making. Our careful and deliberate use of AI tools allow us to enhance the candidate experience by continually streamlining our process and providing quicker responses, while still maintaining our authenticity and transparency. 

Given our emphasis on human connection, we are selective in how we incorporate AI into our recruitment process. Our team uses AI as a supportive tool to assist, not replace, human decision-making and expertise.  It allows us to enhance content for job descriptions, interview questions, and email generation, making them clearer and more engaging for candidates.  The result? Our communication always includes human effort and never reflects an unaltered AI-generated response. 

While other companies heavily rely on AI for candidate communication, our team is committed to authentic communication. We personally review every application we receive. We have found that Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) lack the sophistication to detect nuances, such as transferable skills that might be suitable for other or future roles within our organization. Therefore, we do not use ATS to automatically decline applications.  Our dedicated team initiates all communication regarding application decisions. It is one of the foundations of our bold transparency

We believe AI can be a fantastic tool for crafting standout applications, resumes, and cover letters. Equally, we have a few guidelines and expectations regarding how candidates should use AI in their pursuit of employment with Fox World Travel. 

First and foremost, honesty is the best policy. We expect all application information provided to us to be truthful and accurate. While AI can offer great suggestions, we value authenticity and love hearing our candidates’ unique voices. So, when it comes to answering questionnaires and shining in interviews, we encourage candidates to let their personality and words take center stage. 

As AI and talent acquisition continue to evolve, our team will keep refining and enhancing our recruitment strategy, but our primary focus will always be on maintaining the human connection.
