Hi! I’m Colleen Alsberg, one of our Fox Group Vacations Tour Managers. Having been to Alaska over 35 times, I’ve come to know all about the best places to visit. From the towering peaks of Denali to the charming streets of Dawson City, this extraordinary journey promises to awaken your sense of wonder and leave an indelible mark on your soul. McKinley Chalest and Denali National Park: Nestled amidst the wilderness, McKinley Chalets provide a tranquil base to explore the wonders of Denali National Park. Venture into the heart of the park and witness the awe-inspiring Denali, the tallest peak in North America. As you traverse the rugged terrain, keep an eye out for grizzly bears, moose, and Dall sheep. The vast expanse of wilderness and the crisp mountain air will invigorate your spirit, leaving you feeling alive and connected to nature.
Ketchikan
Known as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” Ketchikan offers an authentic taste of Alaskan coastal life. Stroll along Creek Street, a historic boardwalk perched on stilts over the water, where you can glimpse salmon swimming upstream during the spawning season. Immerse yourself in the rich Native American culture at the Totem Heritage Center, where intricately carved totem poles tell stories of the region’s past.
Juneau
The capital city of Alaska, Juneau, is a vibrant mix of modern amenities and natural wonders. Take a breathtaking helicopter ride to the Mendenhall Glacier and witness the awe-inspiring blue ice formations. For a truly unforgettable experience, go whale watching in the nearby waters, where humpback whales breach and bubble-net feed. The rugged coastline and dramatic fjords will leave you marveling at the raw power of Mother Nature.
Glacier Bay National Park
Prepare to be mesmerized by the awe-inspiring beauty of Glacier Bay National Park. Witness the spectacle of calving glaciers as they release enormous chunks of ice into the sea. Cruise through icy channels, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and serene wilderness. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a sanctuary for wildlife, with opportunities to humpback whales, sea otters, and bald eagles.
Skagway
Step back in time as you visit Skagway, a historic gold rush town that has retained its old-world charm. Walk the same streets that Klondike Gold Rush prospectors once traversed in their pursuit of fortune. Relive the past on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, a vintage train that winds through breathtaking landscapes and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Seward
Seward is a gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, a realm of glaciers, icefields, and abundant marine life. Embark on a boat tour and witness tidewater glaciers calving into the sea, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle. The park is also home to diverse marine wildlife, including sea lions, orcas, and puffins.
Dawson City in the Yukon
Step into the Gold Rush era as you arrive in Dawson City. This quaint town, frozen in time, exudes a unique charm with its wooden boardwalks and historic buildings. Experience the excitement of gold panning and immerse yourself in the captivating tales of fortune seekers who once flocked to this remote outpost.
In conclusion, Alaska and the Yukon offer an unparalleled experience of unspoiled nature and rich history.
