Top 5 Underrated Beaches in the World
It’s clear that we all could use a vacation, and just thinking about feeling the sand between our toes has us jumping up and down with excitement! That’s why we wanted to offer our top 5 underrated beaches in the world. These are beaches are beautiful, a little bit under the radar (so they won’t be as crowded with tourists) and all around the world!
Anapai Bay – New Zealand
This beach we love for those who have a little bit of adventure in their heart. Located along the northern coast of Abel Tasman National Park is the Anapai Bay. Made up of two beaches, Anapai Bay is lush with golden sand and clear, beautiful blue waters, and the beach is split by fascinating rock formations. Known as one of the best beaches in the park, people are also welcome to explore the nearby Mutton Cove after a day of soaking up some sun.
Pyla-sur-Mer – France
Resting along the southwest border of France and leading into the Bay of Biscay, Pyla-sur-Mer Beach is located just an hour away from the beautiful city of Bordeaux, which is most famous for its delicious and unforgettable wines. Those visiting Pyla-sur-Mer will sure remember its charm, as it is one of the most unique beaches in the world. Pyla-sur-Mer is most famous for its iconic sand dunes, which are some of the tallest in all of Europe! Sounds like a great place for a beach picnic and a glass of wine, doesn’t it?
Playa Porto Marie – Curaçao
The Caribbean is always a popular vacation destination, with plenty of beautiful places to visit such as Punta Cana, Varadero and Aruba to name a few. Curaçao, an island off the northern coast of Venezuela, is known as the Caribbean’s “best kept secret.” The island is filled with 35 beaches to explore, but we recommend Playa Porto Marie for its white sand and crystal-clear waters, which makes it a perfect spot to increase your Instagram followers! Playa Porto Marie is also great for activities such as windsurfing, snorkeling and deep-sea diving.

Pink Beach – Indonesia
Found on the Indonesian island of Komodo, Pink Beach is a mesmerizing beach that is… well, pink! One of just seven beaches in the entire world with pink sand, Pink Beach is a must see for all travelers. The unusual color is due to microscopic organisms called foraminifer which have reddish-pink shells. When the foraminifer attach themselves to the coral reefs, the coral colors mix with the white sand, giving the beach its iconic color!
Windansea Beach – California, United States
When people think of California, the first things that come to mind is often warm weather and beaches. While there are so many popular beaches to discover in The Golden State, many of them aren’t as frequently visited, and Windansea Beach in San Diego is one to keep at the top of your list. Windansea Beach is one of the most scenic beaches in the state and is a surfer’s paradise. This beach is also in a perfect location, being close enough to town but still far enough away from the many tourists that California brings each year.
Those were just a few of our suggestions for underrated beaches around the world. Do you have a favorite beach to visit? We’d love to hear all about it!
