Banff, Beautifully Planned: Inside the Jewelers Mutual Incentive Experience

Banff belongs firmly in the second category offering something few destinations can match: the ability to combine luxury, adventure, and unforgettable scenery in one place.

Set amid the dramatic beauty of the Canadian Rockies, Banff offers a rare combination of breathtaking landscapes, refined hospitality, and adventure at every turn. It is a destination where a morning can begin on the water, an afternoon can unfold aboard a luxury train, and dinner can be enjoyed high above the valley or beside a pristine mountain lake.

For the Jewelers Mutual President’s Trip, we created an itinerary designed to make the most of that extraordinary setting.

Over five nights, guests experienced Banff in a succession of unforgettable ways—from river floats and e-bikes to helicopters and horseback riding, from celebrated mountain scenery to thoughtfully selected dining experiences. And woven throughout it all is something equally important: time to connect, unwind, and simply savor being somewhere remarkable.

A First Taste of the Rockies

The experience began with arrival in Calgary welcomed by the Banff DMC and transported into the heart of the destination. The transition from travel to vacation was officially underway.

That evening, guests gathered for a welcome dinner in the Upper Rundle Room—a fitting introduction to a week where spectacular surroundings and exceptional hospitality go hand in hand.

Banff from Every Perspective

The first full day allowed guests to experience Banff outdoors, with two distinctive morning adventures: a float on the Bow River or an e-bike excursion.

The Bow River Float offered an unhurried way to take in the surrounding landscape. Rather than simply sightseeing from a coach window, guests became part of the scenery, drifting along the water with the mountains providing a spectacular backdrop.

For those who opted to explore on two wheels, the e-bike excursion offered a more active introduction to the area, combining movement and discovery before the group reconvenes downtown.

After the active morning of adventures, the group came together for a brew tasting lunch at Three Bears Brewery & Restaurant providing local flavor, good food, and plenty of time for conversation.

By late afternoon, guests boarded the Banff Gondola for a scenic ascent, trading the river and roads for panoramic mountain views. At the summit, guests had time to take in the breathtaking surroundings before dinner at Sky Bistro.

The Royal Canadian Pacific

Luxury incentive travel is as much about choice as it is about spectacle, and Tuesday morning reflected that philosophy beautifully.

Some guests teed off for a morning of golf, while those seeking a more restorative start enjoyed a spa appointment or mineral pool soak with mountain views to renew both body and mind.

Then, in the afternoon, the entire group shifted gears for one of the itinerary’s most distinctive experiences: an intimate journey aboard the Royal Canadian Pacific train through mountain country to Emerald Lake.

The pace was intentionally different from the active excursions of the previous day. There was time to sit back, look out the window, enjoy the company, and watch the landscape unfold on the trip towards Emerald Lake.

After arriving in Yoho National Park, the group emerged into an enchanted dinner at Cilantro, a historic cabin venue offering dining with panoramic views of the turquoise lake and Rocky Mountain peaks before making the journey back to Banff.

By Wednesday, guests had already experienced Banff from the river, the road, and the summit leaving them with a choice between two dramatically different mountain adventures.

The Via Ferrata

For those drawn to adventure, the Via Ferrata offered an opportunity to engage with the mountains in a more immersive way. It’s a different kind of climbing – lead by a certified guide, this daring bunch made their way up the cliffs above the ski area assisted by a fixed anchoring system of cables, ladders and a suspension bridge. The sort of experience that becomes a story long after the trip is over.

For guests choosing the helicopter tour, the Rockies took on an entirely different character.

From the air, the landscape becomes expansive—a vast composition of mountains, valleys, and wilderness, hovering near glaciers, soaring past towering 10,000-foot peaks, and enjoying a rare bird’s eye view of elusive Rocky Mountain wildlife.

The Icons of Banff

If there is one day that captures the visual poetry of the Canadian Rockies, Thursday was it. Guests departed for Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, with the day designed around exploration, choice, and time spent immersing in the scenery.

Rather than experiencing these celebrated landscapes only from a viewpoint, guests chose how they wanted to engage with them.

A lakeshore guided walk offered an intimate way to explore on foot. The Voyager canoe excursion placed guests on the water, while horseback riding provided yet another way to experience the surrounding landscape.

It was a day built around the simple luxury of being outside in a spectacular place—with enough variety for every guest to find their own perfect version of the experience.

The Grand Finale

On the final evening, the group gathered for a farewell reception before moving into dinner at the Petrak Room at Fairmont Banff Springs.

After days of adventure, this final gathering presented an opportunity to pause and reflect on the experiences shared throughout the week.

The river.

The mountains.

The train.

The lakes.

The sky.

The stories.

And the people who experienced them together.
